RACINE, Wisconsin — President Joe Biden issued a warning about former President Donald Trump during a Wisconsin campaign stop held to engage black voters and underscore the high stakes of November’s general election.

“I really think democracy is at stake here — not a joke,” Biden told a crowd Wednesday at a Racine community center.

“Trump means what he says,” he said to the group of roughly 100 people, adding that the former president and presumptive Republican nominee would undermine his accomplishments.

Biden, who described the black community as inspiring his first run for public office in Delaware, also spoke of being asked by CNN during an interview that is expected to air Wednesday night whether he believes Trump will accept the results of the election. The president said he thinks Trump will not.

Event attendees had participated in a training program on how to use an app called REACH, designed to help them connect with people they know about the importance of the election and voting.

Biden’s campaign has used the app for months as part of a “first-of-its-kind relational organizing program” in the Milwaukee area.

“While Donald Trump has no campaign infrastructure to speak of in Wisconsin, Team Biden-Harris and the Wisconsin Democratic Coordinated Campaign have opened 46 offices across the state and hired more than 80 full-time staff working on the ground,” read a memo from Wisconsin campaign manager. Garren Randolph.

Minority voter outreach will also include appearances from Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on Wisconsin radio shows, such as Say Something Real with Michelle Bryant, 101.7 The Truth with Sherwin Hughes, The Early Ingram Show, and Community Talk with Keith Parris.

“President Biden and his campaign are committed to meeting voters where they are to earn their vote,” Randolph wrote. “That’s a stark contrast to Donald Trump, who has virtually no campaign infrastructure in the state and is driving away voters with his job-killing, extremist agenda.”

Earlier this month, Trump did not wholeheartedly agree to accept the 2024 election results in Wisconsin if he were to lose. “If everything’s honest, I’d gladly accept the results,” Trump told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “If it’s not, you have to fight for the right of the country.”

Trump also told NBC Pennsylvania affiliate WGAL that he had no regrets about challenging the 2020 election results, contending that when it comes to “straightening out elections,” people had to “follow your heart.”
