Biden official caught on camera: Border crisis a ‘business opportunity’

A Senior Official Exploits the Border Crisis for Personal Gain

A shocking video has emerged‍ of Andrew Lorenzen-Strait, a senior official involved in ⁤immigration policy on President Joe Biden’s transition⁣ team, boasting about how he used the border crisis to secure lucrative federal contracts for unqualified organizations.⁤ In the footage, captured by conservative nonprofit group Project Veritas, Lorenzen-Strait gleefully admits that the crisis has ⁢been a “boom” for his business.

A Disturbing Revelation

Lorenzen-Strait, a former child welfare attorney who previously oversaw detention ⁤at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, wasted no time in capitalizing on the ⁣border policy changes implemented by the Biden ⁤administration. As the number of unaccompanied ‌children crossing the border reached unprecedented levels, Lorenzen-Strait brokered deals⁣ for immigrant shelters, resulting in billions of dollars in‌ federal contracts.

Unbeknownst to many, Lorenzen-Strait was privy to the administration’s immigration‌ policy changes⁤ as⁤ a member of ‍the transition team. This inside knowledge ⁤allowed him to strategically position ⁢himself and ⁣profit from the crisis.

A Web ⁢of Deception

One of ‍Lorenzen-Strait’s ‍major deals involved securing contracts for the detention of immigrant families and children in hotels and other buildings. The Washington⁤ Examiner was the first to expose these deals, which amounted⁢ to a staggering $617 million. The recipient of ‌these contracts, San Antonio-based nonprofit group Endeavors, had never before received such a substantial contract and had no prior⁣ experience in sheltering immigrants.

However, Lorenzen-Strait didn’t stop there. As scrutiny mounted and investigations were ⁢launched⁤ into the Endeavors deals, he cleverly shifted his focus to another⁣ contractor, Cherokee Nation.⁢ Despite being banned from‌ working on any⁣ more contracts by ICE due to a ‌conflict of interest, Lorenzen-Strait continued to exploit the system, helping Cherokee Nation secure over $1.1 billion in contracts.

A Shameless Exploitation

The revelations in the‌ Project Veritas video ‌have sparked outrage and calls for congressional oversight. Rep. Andrew ⁤Clyde ‍(R-GA) expressed deep concern ‌over Lorenzen-Strait’s actions, describing them as “nefarious greediness.” He called for‌ a thorough investigation into Lorenzen-Strait’s corrupt practices, which he believes exploit both American taxpayer dollars and vulnerable migrant children.

Former acting ICE director⁤ Tom Homan echoed these sentiments, urging House committees to hold hearings and demand answers regarding the billions of dollars‌ in non-competed ⁣emergency contracts awarded by the Biden administration.

A Call for Accountability

Thankfully, investigations ⁣are already ‌underway. The House ‍Oversight Committee and ‌the⁤ House Homeland Security Committee have both pledged to conduct rigorous oversight and deliver transparency in light of these ethical questions. It is crucial that those who ⁢have abused the contracting process or committed fraud⁤ are held accountable.

As the scandal unfolds, it ⁢is ⁢clear that the exploitation‍ of the ⁣border‌ crisis for personal gain is a deeply troubling issue. The American people ⁢deserve answers, and it is imperative that those responsible are held responsible for their actions.
