President Joe Biden was deeply‍ affected by ‌the collapse of a‌ plea deal between his son, Hunter Biden, and the Justice Department,‌ according to the New York Times.

Multiple sources close to the Biden family revealed ‍to‌ the⁢ Times that the breakdown of the deal has led to conversations between father and ⁤son that are now ⁤filled with a sense of resignation.

The plea deal fell apart ‌when the Justice Department and Hunter Biden’s ‍lawyers failed to reach an agreement‌ on its terms. The judge overseeing the case then rejected a revised ⁢deal that would have granted Biden extensive legal immunity. Special Counsel David Weiss has indicated that the Biden case may now proceed to a criminal trial.

The news of a potential trial left the president “stunned,” as reported by the Times.

Despite these challenges, the bond between Joe and Hunter Biden remains strong, described as “ironclad” ⁣by those ‌close to the‌ family. ⁣However,⁣ some confidants have criticized the ⁢president for being too deferential to his son, even in the face of Hunter’s troubled ⁤past‍ and questionable decisions.

While some allies have voiced concerns about the president’s⁣ involvement in Hunter’s⁣ business dealings, other Democrats are rallying around Joe Biden as more information emerges about his connections to his son’s ventures.

Even after whistleblowers testified that President Biden’s Justice Department obstructed the investigation into Hunter ⁢Biden, ⁤House Oversight Committee ranking member Jamie Raskin (D., Md.)‌ dismissed the Republican probe as an “overwhelming failure” and a ⁤”wild goose chase.”

Furthermore, ⁤Congressman Ro Khanna of California compared whistleblower Gary Shapley to a villain from Les Misérables simply because Shapley wants to uphold the law.

Special Counsel Weiss recently announced that ‌the government intends to seek⁢ a grand jury indictment of Hunter Biden before September 29.
