Sam Brinton, an ex-official from the Department of Energy (DOE), is expected to appear before a Minnesota court Wednesday to face charges This is a result of a September bag theft.

The hearing was initially scheduled for Dec. 19, but was postponed to Feb. 15, following a request by Brinton’s defence counsel. However, the judge in charge of the case rejected multiple requests by defense lawyers to allow Brinton remote access to the hearing. In response to media reports about the Minnesota charges in November and the reopening of an unsolved case at Harry Reid International Airport regarding the July 6th theft of a bag valued at $3,670, Las Vegas police officers reopened the case.
