Biden regrets naming the ‘Inflation Reduction Act’

Voltaire’s Wit and Biden’s Admission: The‌ Inflation Reduction Act

Voltaire, the renowned philosopher, once humorously remarked that‍ the Holy Roman ‌Empire was neither holy, nor Roman, nor⁣ an empire. In a similar vein, President Joe Biden recently made a candid admission⁤ about the⁢ 2022 Inflation Reduction Act – it had nothing to do ‌with reducing inflation.

According to Bloomberg, ⁤Biden made this revelation during ‌a Thursday fundraiser in Park City, Utah. Reflecting on the ‍name of the act, the president expressed regret, saying, “I wish I ⁤hadn’t called it that.”

Biden further explained that⁣ the act was more focused ⁣on generating ⁤economic growth and providing alternatives, rather than directly addressing inflation. This off-the-cuff remark is just one ⁣example of the president’s‍ characteristic lack of restraint‌ when speaking to donors.

Biden’s occasional candor may inadvertently reveal‌ some truth. ⁤However, throughout‍ his career, the‍ president has shown ‌little inclination to recognize the truth even if ⁢he‍ happens to speak ‌it.

This‌ Utah fundraiser ⁢was not the only ⁢instance where Biden mentioned the misnamed Inflation Reduction‌ Act. In a fundraiser ‌in New⁢ Mexico earlier in⁣ the‍ week, the‍ president revealed that the ‌act had nothing to do with inflation, but⁢ surprisingly, it also had nothing to do with⁢ economic growth.

According to a White House transcript, Biden stated that the act was primarily focused on ‌addressing climate change. ‍He emphasized that it⁤ represented a significant investment in climate change, surpassing any⁤ other such investment ⁢in the world.

As we delve into the transcript of Biden’s remarks, ⁣it becomes evident‍ that his speech meandered aimlessly, with his thoughts shifting from one subject to another. The⁢ transcript captures‌ his verbal stumbles, unfinished ‌words, and inexplicable transitions, leaving the impression of ⁢an unfocused mind.

So, whether the Inflation Reduction Act ⁣was‍ intended to stimulate economic growth ‍or ‌serve as an environmental measure, it seems inconsequential. Perhaps, when it comes to deciphering Biden’s intentions, we should attach no meaning to ⁢anything‌ he says.
