Biden Condemns Attack on Anti-Abortion Group in Wisconsin

President Joe Biden has denounced an attack on a Wisconsin-based anti-abortion group whose Madison headquarters was set alight by at least one Molotov cocktail over the weekend.

“President Biden strongly condemns this attack and political violence of any stripe,” a White House spokesman told the Washington Examiner.

BIDEN MUTES DISPLAY OF CLEMENCY POWER AMID PRESSURE FOR MORE EXECUTIVE ACTION

“The president has made clear throughout his time in public life that Americans have the fundamental right to express themselves under the Constitution, whatever their point of view,” the aide added. “But that expression must be peaceful and free of violence, vandalism, or attempts to intimidate.”

Earlier Monday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki distanced Biden from pro-abortion protests staged outside Supreme Court justices’ homes after a draft opinion of a 5-4 decision overturning Roe v. Wade was leaked to reporters.

“.@POTUS strongly believes in the constitutional right to protest,” Psaki tweeted. “But that should never include violence, threats, or vandalism. Judges perform an incredibly important function in our society, and they must be able to do their jobs without concern for their personal safety.”

Madison’s police and fire departments were called to lobbying and advocacy organization Wisconsin Family Action’s headquarters last Saturday after reports of a fire. Wisconsin Family Action President Julaine Appling described part of the building being hit by a Molotov cocktail and someone spray-painting, “If abortions aren’t safe then you aren’t either,” on one wall.

“What you’re going to see here is a direct threat against us,” Appling told Madison.com. “Imagine if somebody had been in the office when this happened. They would have been hurt.”
