IRS whistleblowers dropped a bombshell during a congressional hearing on Thursday. They revealed that the tax agency had recommended felony charges against Hunter Biden, but the federal prosecutor in charge of the investigation was repeatedly prevented from filing charges. This shocking information was disclosed by the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.
Representative Jason Smith (R., Mo.) revealed at a press conference that two IRS employees claimed the agency sought felony charges against Hunter Biden for tax evasion and making fraudulent or false statements. These charges are all felonies. The whistleblowers, who have been involved in the Biden probe since November 2018, also alleged that the investigation was plagued by “unjustified delays” and “unusual actions outside the normal course of any investigation,” according to Smith.
This shocking revelation comes just days after federal prosecutors in Delaware reached a plea deal with Biden on two misdemeanor tax charges and a felony gun charge. These charges will be dropped once he completes a diversionary program.
Smith argued that Biden received a lenient punishment for crimes that would have landed other Americans in prison.
According to Smith, the whistleblowers testified that Hunter Biden failed to pay over $2.2 million in taxes and received $8.3 million from foreign entities in Ukraine, China, and Romania. Biden also received at least $6 million from CEFC China Energy, a company linked to Chinese military intelligence. Additionally, a Romanian businessman under investigation for bribery paid Biden $1 million for legal assistance. Furthermore, Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian natural gas company, paid Hunter Biden over $80,000 per month for his role on their board of directors.
In a stunning revelation, Smith cited an encrypted text message in which Hunter Biden threatened a Chinese business partner by invoking his father.
