Under the Biden administration, the program now focuses on right-wing violence and white supremacy, with grant amounts ranging from $85,000 to $1.19 million and costing taxpayers nearly $40 million.

Controversial Categorization

The program has awarded 80 grants in total, with grant amounts ranging from $85,000 to $1.19 million and costing taxpayers nearly $40 million.

DHS secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has called the program a “high priority,” according to an internal memo. However, Republicans have investigated Mayorkas extensively for his failure on the border crisis. A House Republican recently told him that he has “brought generational trauma upon our country.”
