The U.S. officials have “high confidence” that the leader was killed, but no evidence has been provided to support this claim. The Biden administration has reached out to the families of the fallen soldiers, but some, like Darin Hoover, father of Staff Sgt. Taylor Hoover, are frustrated with the lack of accountability and transparency. Marine sergeant Tyler Vargas-Andrews, who witnessed the attack, broke down while recounting his experience to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. He revealed that his team had identified a man near the Abbey gate who fit the description of the suspected terrorist bomber, but their requests to take him out were denied.
