Ayanna Pressley says Trump admin, SCOTUS, GOP are all ‘fascist’

Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley from Massachusetts criticized the Trump governance, the far-right Supreme Court, and the MAGA movement, describing them as “united in their collective harm.” She emphasized the importance of voter awareness of the high stakes involved, warning against the collective threat posed by these groups. Pressley expressed support for Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul el Sayed, praising his focus on issues like healthcare and economic justice, and highlighted their shared commitment to addressing disparities, especially in health outcomes. The article also mentions political tensions between el Sayed and rival candidate Haley Stevens, and notes Pressley’s call for unity to defeat Republican opposition in the upcoming elections.

Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) criticized the “fascist” Trump administration, the “far-right” Supreme Court, and the Make America Great Again movement, saying they are all “united in their collective harm.”

“I’m very confident that people understand the high stakes of this moment, and they are very clear about the fact that the people who mean us all harm are working together,” Pressley said on MS Now’s Politics Nation with Al Sharpton Sunday.

Pressley’s comments come as she voiced her support for Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul el Sayed, saying he is the best candidate for Michigan, specifically black Michiganders.

El Sayed announced his run for Senate against Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) and has based his campaign platform on “Money Out of Politics, Money in Your Pocket, [and] Medicare for All.”

“I believe our destinies are tied from Massachusetts to Michigan. I represent a district that is deeply unequal, that has been plagued by disparate outcomes across every issue, including and especially health outcomes, and I am inspired by the work that Abdul el Sayed did with rebuilding Detroit’s health department,” Pressley said, referencing el Sayed’s platform message.

Host Al Sharpton noted political jabs between el Sayed and Stevens, asking Pressley if she was confident in “both sides’ ability to come together and defeat Republicans in the fall.”

“Whether you are talking about this fascist administration, whether you’re talking about this far-right Supreme Court, whether you’re talking about MAGA across the aisle in Congress, or in state legislatures throughout this country,” she said. “They are united in their collective harm that they seek to enact.”
