‘At this point, establishment Democrats are dead’: Joe Concha
Joe Concha, a Washington Examiner columnist, argues that democratic socialists are gaining ground in elections because their organizations are more cohesive, better funded, and more united than establishment Democrats. He states that socialist candidates are increasingly dominating blue city races and are slowly taking over such urban areas across the U.S.However, Concha contends that socialist policies, like free childcare and public transportation, are unsustainable without high taxes, which lead billionaires to leave states like New York, further shrinking revenue. He warns that socialist ambitions might backfire nationally, especially in swing states like Pennsylvania and Michigan,by risking important electoral losses. Concha emphasizes that socialist policies can deplete state resources, referencing Margaret Thatcher’s adage that socialism eventually runs out of other people’s money, and criticizes Democratic figures like Zohran Mamdani for advocating costly programs without sustainable funding.he asserts that Republicans better understand economic management and warns against the long-term consequences of socialist proposals.

However, Concha argued that democratic socialist ideologies will not resonate in swing states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina, and Georgia.
“If they want to put up a Mamdani, or an AOC, or somebody from the very, very far-left to run for president in 2028, they may lose 51 states, which mathematically is impossible, but that may happen,” Concha said.
Concha argued that democratic socialists like New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s efforts to create free childcare and public transportation are not sustainable.
“How do you pay for that stuff? Oh, that’s right, you tax billionaires,” Concha said.
