Police in Uvalde, Texas, responded to a shooting at a park on Thursday which left at least two juveniles injured.

“Please AVOID the area of the Uvalde Memorial Park. The Uvalde Police Department is currently investigating a shooting with injured victims,” said a statement on the Uvalde Police Department Facebook page. The call reporting a shooting came in at 5:30 p.m. local time, police added.

The juveniles who were wounded are recovering at an area hospital while police are searching for a juvenile suspect, according to KSAT 12. Local authorities said there is “not a dangerous situation for the general public,” per the same report.

The shooting comes months after a mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, a town with a population of about 16,000, which left 19 students and two teachers dead. The shooter, identified as an 18-year-old, was killed by law enforcement, but not until after a long delay.

The school district fired its police chief, Pete Arredondo, in late August after he stepped down from his City Council position in July.
