‘Assassination culture is now being embraced by the Left’: Joe Concha

Fox News commentator Joe Concha criticized Democrats for repeatedly invoking or tolerating “political violence” rhetoric, arguing it has become normalized across the Left.He also took issue with Jimmy Kimmel’s April comments about Melania Trump, particularly after a shooting targeting attendees at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner shortly afterward.

Concha maintained that Kimmel’s remark (“expectant widow”) wasn’t being treated consistently with how similar jokes about other public figures would be judged, and he said that celebrities and commentators who defend such jokes are ignoring the potential danger of escalating political “assassination culture.” He cited defenses from George Clooney-who said jokes are jokes but that recent rhetoric can be perilous-while arguing that platforms and coverage given to left-wing voices help justify the broader climate he describes.

Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha ripped Democrats over continuous rhetoric related to political violence, and criticized late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel’s comments about Melania Trump.

“The bottom line is Kimmel is part of a protection racket,” Concha said on Fox News’s America’s Newsroom Wednesday.

Kimmel said in his comedy skit that the first lady looked like an “expectant widow” on April 23. Two days later, a gunman opened fire at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, where President Donald Trump and the first lady were attending.

Kimmel defended his comments as a joke about the age difference between Trump and Melania.

“The test here is Dr. Jill Biden is much younger than Joe Biden”, Concha said. “Where was the joke between Jill Biden and Joe Biden? It simply didn’t happen.”

George Clooney defended Kimmel on Monday and said, “Jokes are jokes, but the rhetoric I think is a little dangerous and we’ve seen it a lot lately.”

Assassination culture is now being embraced by the Left, let’s face it,” Concha said.

REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS UNITE AFTER WHCA SHOOTING: ‘VIOLENCE HAS NO PLACE’

Concha argued that the Left is “justifying this stuff” by giving people such as left-wing streamer Hasan Piker platforms with the New York Times.

“Clooney, while he says, ‘OK, it was just a joke,’ I can guarantee you if the same joke was made about Michelle Obama with Barack Obama, he would not be singing the same tune,” Concha said.
