Ark. State Police rescue abducted N.C. teenager, one trooper injured

Arkansas State Police rescued a kidnapped teenager in an operation which left one state trooper injured. On Monday, Alamance County officials announced the 14-year-old girl, who was abducted in North Carolina on February 11, was found alive and safe. Meanwhile, her alleged kidnapper has died.
On Saturday night, two state troopers confronted 38-year-old William Ice after identifying his SUV outside of a McDonald’s restaurant. He opened fire, in turn, wounding one of the troopers.
The suspect then fled the scene and was later found suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He died after being transferred to a local hospital.

Sheriff Terry Johnson said the operation prevented what could have been a greater tragedy.
“We could have had victims in Alamance County,” he stated. “We worked extensively, like I say, with Davidson County and worked very hard to try to find every possible victim in Alamance County.”
The teenager was secured by state police and has since returned home. The injured trooper is being treated for his wounds and is in stable condition.
