Apple Inc. is blaming new software bugs for the new iPhone 15 models’ overheating issues.
The multinational technology company based in Cupertino, California, announced on Saturday that it is working on an upgrade for the iOS17 operating system, which powers the iPhone 15. This upgrade aims to prevent apps from overwhelming the system and causing the new phone models to overheat.
According to Apple, these issues are a result of a combination of bugs in iOS 17, certain bugs in apps, and a temporary setup period.
A spokesperson for Apple provided a statement to CNBC addressing the problems.
“We have identified a few conditions which can cause the iPhone to run warmer than expected. The device may feel warmer during the first few days after setting up or restoring the device because of increased background activity. We have also found a bug in iOS 17 that is impacting some users and will be addressed in a software update. Another issue involves some recent updates to third-party apps that are causing them to overload the system. We’re working with these app developers on fixes that are in the process of rolling out.”
Apple’s statement comes as numerous iPhone users have recently complained on Apple’s forums, Reddit, and other social media platforms about all four iPhone 15 models getting hotter than expected during regular use.
Furthermore, Instagram has also released an app update to prevent the models from overheating for its users.
Apple did not provide a specific timeframe for when the issues will be resolved, but they assured iPhone 15 owners that it is safe to use their devices while waiting for the upcoming software update.
“We have identified a few conditions which can cause iPhone to run warmer than expected,” said Apple in a short statement provided to the Associated Press.

Reports indicate that Apple is increasing the starting price for the iPhone 15 Pro Max to $1,200, a $100 or 9% increase from the previous model, in an effort to offset the declining sales.
