AOC Calls on Biden Admin to Ignore the Courts After Judge Blocks FDA Approval of Abortion Drug
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY, urged the Biden administration to disregard a Texas judge’s’s order on Friday prohibiting the Food and Drug Administration from approving the mifepristone contraception pill.
While a petition challenging the health and approval of mifepristone is being heard in court, Trump-appointed U.S. District Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk ordered the FDA to hold the drug’s’s agreement on Friday. The FDA’s’s approval of the abortion medication was delayed by Kasmaryk, but the federal government was given seven days to” seek emergency relief from the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.”
The Biden presidency has declared that it will challenge Kacsmaryk’s’s ruling.
Democrats are incensed by the decision, and at least two politicians, including Ocasio-Cortez, have urged President Biden to delay enforcing the order while the legal dispute is still pending.

AOC said on CNN,” I think the Biden presidency may disregard this decision.” She claimed that judges who are” deeply partisan” have” engaged in unprecedented and dramatic erosion of the legitimacy of courts ,” calling the decision to use the abortion pill” unfounded.”
She continued,” The intriguing aspect of a decision is that it depends on enforcement.” And it is up to the Biden presidency to uphold a decision and decide whether or not to do so.
After the decision was overturned, Sen. Ron Wyden of Oregon made a similar speech.
” This verdict has no way of having a legal foundation. Instead, it is rooted in conservatives’ perilous and unjust invasion of our nation’s’s institutions, according to Wyden. I’m’m again urging President Biden and the FDA to do just that because, regardless of what happens in seven years, I think the Food and Drug Administration has the power to disregard this decision.

He advises the FDA, medical professionals, and pharmacy to” come about their work like nothing has changed and have mifepristone available to women across America.”
Presently prescribing and dispensing mifepristone requires a specialized certification from doctors and pharmacists.
Under a security program designed to reduce the risk of potentially harmful drugs, the FDA places unique restrictions on mifepristone, but has repeatedly relaxed those limitations.
The FDA approved the distribution of the pregnancy medication mifepristone in January.

President Biden slammed Kacsmaryk’s decision, saying that the court “has substituted its judgment for FDA, the expert agency that approves drugs.”
In a statement, Biden cautioned that if this decision were to come, there would be essentially no prescription that has been approved by the FDA that is safe from these kinds of social, ideological attacks.
More than half of abortions in America are caused by medicine, and the prescription drug in concern in this case is used for that purpose. He continued,” The cause and this decision are another unprecedented step in depriving wives of fundamental freedoms and endangering their health.

Regardless of whether pregnancy is permitted in a state, this does not really apply to women in Texas; if it were to stand, it may prevent women from accessing the remedy in every state. Democratic elected leaders have vowed to enact a law in America that is” the next significant step toward the federal moratorium on pregnancy.”
