Ivy League students against Israel receive harsh update from Jewish billionaire donor.
Billionaire Leon Cooperman Vows to Stop Funding Columbia University Over Anti-Israel Protests
Billionaire Leon Cooperman, a proud Polish-Jewish individual who has dedicated his life to philanthropy, is furious.
The 80-year-old philanthropist estimates that he has donated $50 million to Columbia University over the years. However, he has decided to cease his contributions to the institution due to the way some students and faculty members celebrated the massacre of Israeli civilians on October 7, which resulted in the loss of over 1,400 lives.
“These kids at the colleges have sh– for brains,” Cooperman expressed his frustration to Fox Business host Claman last week.
“We have one reliable ally in the Middle East. That’s Israel,” Cooperman emphasized. “We only have one democracy in the Middle East. That’s Israel. And we have one economy tolerant of different people, gays, lesbians, etc. That’s Israel. So they have no idea what these young kids are doing.
“Now, the real shame is, I’ve given to Columbia probably about $50 million over many years. And I’m going to suspend my giving. I’ll give my giving to other organizations,” he declared.
Cooperman also expressed his outrage to CNN, stating, “It’s not just because I’m a Jew. What Hamas did was brutal and over-the-top. These kids don’t have a clue what they’re talking about.”
Cooperman specifically criticized Columbia professor Joseph Massad for his comments praising the Palestinian resistance. Cooperman firmly believes that such remarks are disgraceful and disgusting.
Commentator Meghan McCain, who is an alumna of Columbia University, also condemned the school for its handling of the situation. She stated, “The only thing I can say is, they will never get a dime from me. I will never do any speaking engagements with them. Columbia can go to hell as far as I’m concerned.”
The culture at Columbia has also come under scrutiny, with reports of an LGBTQ group attempting to exclude Jewish students from a movie night. The event was ultimately canceled by the school.

Leon Cooperman’s decision to stop funding Columbia University highlights the growing concern over the anti-Israel sentiment on college campuses. As a prominent philanthropist and a proud Polish-Jewish individual, Cooperman has dedicated his life to supporting worthy causes. However, the recent celebration of the massacre of Israeli civilians at Columbia University has compelled him to withdraw his financial contributions to the institution.
Cooperman urges the younger generation to understand the importance of Israel, the only reliable ally and democracy in the Middle East. Israel’s acceptance and tolerance of different communities, including the LGBTQ community, make it a beacon of hope in the region. The billionaire philanthropist believes that the students and faculty members who celebrated the loss of innocent lives have no understanding of the significance of Israel in a tumultuous region.
Cooperman’s frustration also stems from Columbia professor Joseph Massad’s comments praising the Palestinian resistance. He finds such remarks disgraceful and disgusting. To express his discontent, Cooperman has decided to suspend his financial contributions to Columbia University and redirect his philanthropic endeavors towards other organizations.
Commentator Meghan McCain, an alumna of Columbia University, has also criticized the school’s handling of the situation and pledged not to support them in any way. This growing dissent is indicative of a larger problem at the university, with reports of an LGBTQ group attempting to exclude Jewish students from a movie night. The event was subsequently canceled due to the controversy.
The situation at Columbia University serves as a reminder that universities should be places of intellectual and ideological diversity, allowing for open and respectful dialogue. However, the celebration of violence and exclusionary practices undermine the principles of education and mutual understanding.
In conclusion, Leon Cooperman’s decision to halt his financial contributions to Columbia University reflects the urgent need for universities to address and rectify their handling of anti-Israel sentiment. This case should serve as a wake-up call for institutions of higher education to uphold their values of inclusion, respect, and intellectual curiosity, ensuring that all voices are heard and respected on campus.
