Anheuser-Busch Heir Slams Company Over Controversial Partnership
Anheuser-Busch heir Billy Busch recently spoke out against the company’s decision to partner with a anheuser-busch-heir-slams-company-over-transgender-controversy/” title=”Anheuser-Busch Heir Criticizes Company for Transgender Controversy”>highly controversial transgender influencer
to promote their beer brand. In an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Busch expressed his disappointment with the fallout that the company has faced as a result of this partnership.“I think my family, my ancestors would have rolled over in their grave,” Busch said in a video played at the start of the segment. “They were very patriotic, they loved this country and what it stood for. They believe the transgender, gays, that sort of thing was all a very personal issue. They loved this country because it is a free country, and people are allowed to do what they want. But it was never meant to be on a beer can and never meant to be pushed in people’s faces.”
Busch emphasized that his family would have never taken such a political stance with the company, stating that “it’s not wise for a beer company to get into that game.” He pointed out the significant consequences that Anheuser-Busch has faced, including hundreds of millions of dollars in lost sales and a significant drop in market capitalization.
“They are paying the price,” Busch said. “And I think the company greatly miscalculated what they thought was being inclusive, but it really was divisive. I think my family was, they live by the motto, ‘Making friends is our business.’ And they believe that bringing people together, making it a sociable, fun, beer-drinking experience was the way to go. But you know, people that drink Bud Light, that drink beer, really don’t relate to that kind of advertising. And so it was it was a huge mistake.”
Busch emphasized the need for the company to better understand its consumers and the American market. He criticized Anheuser-Busch as a foreign company that needs to learn what sells in America and how to cater to the preferences of beer drinkers.
