Anheuser-Busch Employs Ex-GOP Aides for Damage Control

Anheuser-Busch Hires Ex-GOP Aides for Damage Control After Dylan Mulvaney Fallout

Anheuser-Busch is facing backlash after partnering with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, and has now employed a lobbying firm with GOP roots in Congress to do damage control.

American Accountability Foundation Alleges Origin Advocacy’s Involvement

According to Fox Business, the American Accountability Foundation (AAF) has written a letter to Congressional staffers alleging that Origin Advocacy, a lobbying firm, has sent its founder and partner to Capitol Hill on behalf of Anheuser-Busch. Disclosures confirm that Origin Advocacy added Anheuser-Busch as a client this year. Founder Sean McClean and Origin partner Emily Lynch, both former Republican staffers, have already begun “making the rounds,” according to AAF.

  • McClean is a former legislative director for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)
  • Lynch was previously employed by former Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) as a legislative assistant

AAF alleges that the pair are attempting to “red-wash Bud Light’s disastrous decision to partner with a man pretending to be a woman and tell you the company really does respect conservative values.”

“They’re even making the anheuser-busch-employs-ex-gop-aides-for-damage-control/” title=”Anheuser-Busch Employs Ex-GOP Aides for Damage Control”>shamefully offensive equivalency argument that their transgender activist beer can is just like their beer can honoring WWII vets,” the letter penned by AAF President Tom Jones continued. “They’re telling offices, ‘Anheuser-Busch sometimes creates commemorative cans. … Honor Flight can [for] example.’ If partnering with a trans activist wasn’t shameful enough, equating Dylan Mulvaney to a World War II hero is really beyond the pale.”

Origin Advocacy did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.

“AAF is committed to ensuring conservatives on the Hill have the information and knowledge they need to navigate the complexities of Washington DC and defend the interests of the American people, which is why we made sure they were aware of what Bud Light is up to,” Jones said in a subsequent statement to the Washington Examiner.

Bud Light Sales Down Following Controversy

Data published by NielsenIQ and Bump Williams Consulting also report that total Bud Light sales for the week ending on April 15 were down 21% in volume, following an 11% decrease that took place a week prior.
