Anheuser-Busch CEO embarks on tour seeking feedback.

Anheuser-Busch CEO Hits the Road to Connect with Concerned Consumers

Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth is taking a proactive approach to address the concerns surrounding his brand. In an effort to personally engage with consumers, Whitworth has planned a nationwide tour as part of the company’s summer ad campaign, according to Axios.

Controversy Sparks Change

Bud Light, a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch, faced backlash when they sent a personalized can to transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Mulvaney shared the product on social media, leading to boycotts from some customers. As a result, senior marketing officials were placed on leave and the company severed ties with a third-party advertising agency.

In response to the situation, Whitworth released a statement outlining the company’s actions. “First, we are investing to protect the jobs of our frontline employees. Second, we are providing financial assistance to our independent wholesalers to help them support their employees,” he wrote. “Third, to all our valued consumers, we hear you. Our summer advertising launches next week, and you can look forward to Bud Light reinforcing what you’ve always loved about our brand – that it’s easy to drink and easy to enjoy.”

Despite requests for comment, Anheuser-Busch did not respond to the Washington Examiner.

Aiming for a Comeback

This new campaign comes at a crucial time for Bud Light, as their United States retail sales have seen a significant decline. According to consulting company Bump Williams, Bud Light’s sales dropped by 28% compared to the same period in 2022, starting from May 8.

However, amidst the challenges, other brands like the MLB and Garth Brooks have decided to stand by Bud Light and continue selling it at their venues.
