‘An All-Out Assault on the Second Amendment’: Gun Rights Groups Respond to Biden’s New Executive Order

President of the National Association for Gun Rights Dudley Brown issued a passionate statement urging Congress to reject any unconstitutional attempts at gun registration.

“This is an all-out assault on the Second Amendment, and we’re looking into every legislative and legal option to fight back against the most anti-gun president in U.S. history. What part of ‘shall not be infringed’ does Biden not understand?” Brown’s statement is as follows:

Brown, like the other organizations who responded, said that the order would not reduce crime. He wrote instead that it would make law-abiding citizens criminals for not complying with the government’s complex regulations.

“The reality is this executive order will do nothing to stop criminals from buying and selling firearms illegally, but it will entrap otherwise law-abiding Americans and put them on the bad side of the ATF. The unconstitutional NICS database should be abolished, not expanded,” Brown wrote.

Gun Owners of America (GOA), in a prepared statement, stated that it had been anticipating such an action from the president.

Eric Pratt, senior vice president of GOA, is quoted as saying that the background check system currently in place fails 90% of the time. Pratt says that expanding it won’t make things better.

“Guns will continue to fall into the wrong hands as long as politicians and bureaucrats fail to acknowledge the real elephant in the room – violent criminals freely walking the streets,” Pratt wrote.

Biden also announced that he would continue to push for a ban against certain magazines and rifles. After the previous 10-year ban in 2004, Biden stated that the number of mass shootings in America has tripled.

“I’m determined once again to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines,” Biden said.

Alan Gottlieb (Chairman of the Committee for Citizens’ Right to Keep & Bear Arms), said that Biden’s agenda does not have anything to do with safety. Gottlieb agrees with other gun rights advocates that Biden’s plan would fail if implemented.

“The only people who will be any safer are the criminals who ignore gun-control laws already,” Gottlieb stated.
