Alina Habba squashes rumors she’ll replace Leavitt as press secretary
Alina Habba, a former Trump attorney, has denied rumors that she is interested in becoming White House press secretary following Karoline Leavitt’s resignation. Despite speculation and favorable odds predicted by prediction markets like Kalshi, Habba clarified on X that she is not pursuing the role. Currently working as an adviser to the Attorney General in the Justice Department,Habba joked about fake news covering the speculation. Her odds in betting markets have significantly dropped from over 40% to around 6.5%, with CNN commentator Scott Jennings now the leading candidate, having reportedly interviewed for the position. Other potential replacements include Pentagon spokespersons Kingsley Wilson and Sean Parnell. habba gained popularity as a possible candidate due to her prominent role as a MAGA supporter during Trump’s legal issues.

Habba has been floated as one of the most likely successors to Leavitt since she announced her resignation this month. The prediction market Kalshi had her as a favorite Wednesday, with her odds peaking at 41.6%. But Habba squashed the rumors in a post on X, denying any reports that she was pursuing or close to getting the role.

“Flattered by the Kalshi odds, but I’m not in the running for any job. However, if I’m getting a new one, I’d love for one of these anonymous sources to let me know first,” she said.
Habba works in the Justice Department as an adviser to the attorney general for U.S. attorneys.
“Fake news remains the undefeated champ…well…until I come at them,” Habba added with a winking emoji.
Her odds plummeted on Kalshi, standing as of Thursday morning at just 6.5%. CNN commentator Scott Jennings is now the front-runner with 41% of bets, followed by deputy press secretary Anna Kelly at 18.1%.
Jennings became a favorite after reports emerged that he had met with officials at the White House to interview for the position. He was also floated after President Donald Trump was elected and before Leavitt was announced.

Habba became a popular prediction due to her long-standing credentials as an aggressive MAGA surrogate, making frequent media appearances during Trump’s legal battles.
Other floated candidates for Leavitt’s position are Pentagon spokeswoman Kingsley Wilson and chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell.
