After 70 years, Alan Dershowitz turns on Democratic Party

Alan Dershowitz, a longtime Democrat, said he is now “strongly opposed” to the democratic Party, arguing it has turned against the United States, Israel, and Jewish people. In an interview, he lamented growing Democratic criticism following the oct. 7 hamas attack on Israel-especially calls to suspend or alter U.S.military aid due to concerns about civilian casualties in Gaza and Iran.

dershowitz said he wants democrats defeated in every election, including losing control of the House, Senate, and presidency, and characterized some anti-Israel or antisemitism-related viewpoints within the party as self-defeating. While he said he’s not opposed to every Democrat, he indicated he would still continue opposing the party despite being 87 years old.

Alan Dershowitz ripped the Democratic Party in a recent interview, saying he is now “strongly opposed” to the political party he has supported for 70 years.

The former lawyer of the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein criticized the Democratic Party for turning against America, Israel, and Jewish people.

“I feel I am one of the few people standing up against my old party,” Dershowitz said on an episode of Pod Force One released Wednesday. “I’ve been a Democrat for 70 years. I now am strongly opposed to that party.”

“I want them defeated in every single election,” Dershowitz added.

Dershowitz said he wants Democrats to lose in all elections because he is “scared” of some in the party.

“I want to see Democrats lose control of the House and lose control of the Senate and lose control of the presidency because I am scared of them,” he said. “They are against America, they are against Israel, they are against the Jews.”

Since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel, Democrats have faced growing criticisms of antisemitism over some within the party being critical of the Israeli government’s military response.

In recent months, more Democrats have called to suspend sending military aid to Israel, driven by concerns over civilian casualties in Gaza and Iran.

Dershowitz praised those from other religions for defending Jewish people, arguing Jews are the “leading people” against other Jews.

“Thank God for Christians and Muslims who support Israel,” he said. “Israel cannot count on its Jewish population … Many support Israel, most support Israel, but some of its most vociferous opponents [are] organizations like Jewish Voices for Peace, which aren’t Jewish, and doesn’t have a voice, and is against peace.”

“These are just self-defeating, self-hating idiots,” he added.

Dershowitz said he is not against all Democrats, saying there are a couple of members of Congress he would like to see “elected.” He said there was a senator or congressman from New Jersey he supports, but didn’t name anyone specifically.

JEWISH VOTERS FEEL ‘POLITICALLY HOMELESS’ AS ANTISEMITISM RISES ON BOTH SIDES

Dershowitz, who is 87, declared he would continue “standing up” against them despite his age.

“I’m 87 years old. I don’t have the strength I had when I was 47, but I am going to use every bit of strength I have to oppose the Democrats,” he said.
