Maren Morris subtly shades Jason Aldean on Instagram.
Musician Maren Morris Takes a Stand
Musician Maren Morris has once again made her voice heard, this time through an Instagram post that cleverly references fellow artist Jason Aldean’s lyrics. In a short video clip, which many suspect is a sneak peek of an upcoming music video, Morris showcases a city sign that proudly declares, “Welcome to Our Perfect SMALL TOWN From Sunrise to Sundown.”
This move comes in the wake of Aldean’s release of his hit song ”Try That in a Small Town,” which faced criticism not only for its lyrics but also for its controversial music video. The video initially included footage from the Black Lives Matter riots of 2020, but this was later edited out.
“I’m done filling a cup with a hole in the bottom,”
Morris captioned her post, making a powerful statement about her own journey and perhaps subtly addressing the controversies surrounding Aldean’s work.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Morris has found herself in a heated exchange. She previously engaged in a Twitter feud with Brittany Aldean, Jason’s wife, over transgender identity. When Aldean expressed gratitude for her biological womanhood and her decision not to transition, Morris responded with strong words, calling her a “scumbag.”
Despite the controversies, Morris has been recognized for her contributions to the music industry. She recently received GLAAD’s Excellence in Media award, a prestigious honor presented by former RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants Cynthia Lee Fontaine and Alyssa Edwards. This achievement makes her the first artist in her genre to win this esteemed award.
In addition to this recognition, Morris boasts an impressive collection of accolades, including one Grammy, three Billboard Music Awards, and five Academy of Country Music Awards.
Currently, Morris is captivating audiences on her tour, with her most recent performance taking place in Calgary, Canada.
