September SNAP payments worth up to $2,145 to be delivered in four states this Friday.

Supplemental Nutrition ‍Assistance Program Payments: What You ‍Need to Know

While most‌ states send‍ out Supplemental‌ Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) payments on a rolling basis, four states have a unique‍ approach. Alaska, North Dakota, Rhode Island, and Vermont send benefits to all residents on the 1st ‍of every month, regardless of ⁣their last name or case number. This sets them apart from other states that distribute‍ benefits based on ⁢specific criteria.

Benefits for ‍All

Combining these four states, approximately 348,400 people receive food stamps through the SNAP program. The average monthly payment per household ⁢member ranges from $183 to $271, depending ‍on ⁣the state. These states reload SNAP benefits onto‍ recipients’ electronic benefits transfer (EBT) cards each month, ⁢allowing them to purchase groceries, seeds, and plants at participating grocery stores, farmers markets, and select‌ online retailers.

Unique⁢ SNAP Benefits in Alaska and Hawaii

Alaska⁢ and Hawaii have different‌ payment⁣ amounts ⁢for SNAP ‍benefits. In Alaska, the⁢ maximum monthly payment varies based on the region where ‍a resident lives. The state is ⁢divided into three regions: ⁤Rural I, ⁤Rural II, and Urban. For example, households of one ⁤can receive ⁤a maximum payment of $293 in Rural I,⁣ $357‌ in Rural II, and ⁤$230 in Urban. On the other⁤ hand, households of eight can receive‌ $1,762 in Rural ⁢I,⁤ $2,145 in Rural II, and $1,382 in Urban.

For North Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont, and the ‍remaining 45 states and Washington, D.C.,⁣ the maximum SNAP‍ payments are the same.‌ A household of one can receive ⁢up to $281, a household of ‌four can receive up to $939, and a household of eight can receive up to $1,691. An additional $211 is ‍added⁤ for ⁣each additional household member.

SNAP benefits ⁢play a crucial role in⁤ supporting ‍individuals and families in need. To learn more about this topic, click here ‍to read ‌more from The Washington⁣ Examiner.
