Nikki Haley claims Trump is America’s most unpopular politician, but polls indicate it’s actually Mitch McConnell.
Nikki Haley: Trump is the Most Disliked Politician in America
Former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley made a bold statement during Wednesday’s Republican presidential debate. She called former President Donald Trump “the most disliked politician in all of America.” Haley reiterated this point in a mid-day interview on Fox News the following day.
However, the polling data tells a different story. According to RealClearPolitics’ tracker of favorability ratings, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell holds the title of the most disliked politician. McConnell’s average net-favorable ratings are more than 35 points below zero, surpassing Trump’s numbers.
While none of the listed politicians enjoy positive favorability numbers, California Rep. Nancy Pelosi comes in as the second-most disliked leader. Trump follows closely behind Pelosi, with Vice President Kamala Harris, President Joe Biden, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and incumbent House Speaker Kevin McCarthy also ranking unfavorably.
So, if Haley wants to highlight the most unpopular politician in America, she should focus on the number one Republican in the upper chamber.
The Most Hated Politician Among Democrats
When it comes to Democrats, there is a strong case to be made for Trump as the most hated politician. He currently faces 91 charges across four politicized investigations. However, among Republicans, Trump remains the most popular politician in America, with a significant lead over the rest of the GOP primary field.

Trump’s Recent Remarks on McConnell
The Republican frontrunner recently skipped a debate in Wisconsin to have an interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. During the interview, Trump criticized McConnell, referring to him as a “bad guy” who undermined Republican voters by not strongly opposing Democrats’ impeachment efforts.
McConnell’s Response
Meanwhile, McConnell has chosen to remain silent regarding Democrats’ attempts to jail Trump. Last fall, McConnell managed to maintain his leadership position by focusing on a Republican minority that he could control, rather than a conservative majority that he couldn’t.
