CNN reports witnessing a 30-minute theft spree by three individuals at a Walgreens store in a city under Democratic control.
Shocking Theft Spree at San Francisco Walgreens Caught on Camera
A CNN film crew recently witnessed a series of brazen thefts at a Walgreens store in San Francisco. In just 30 minutes, three individuals were caught stealing from inside the store.
This particular Walgreens location has become notorious for theft, prompting the store to take extreme measures such as locking up most items behind chains or plexiglass.
CNN senior national correspondent Kyung Lah visited the store and spoke with shocked patrons who expressed disbelief at the escalating theft problem.
According to Lah, theft at this Walgreens is so rampant that during their short visit, they observed multiple people, including one man, stealing items without paying. The situation has become so dire that even products like mustard are now locked up.
“Walgreens says this Richmond neighborhood store with aisles of products like mustard locked behind plexiglass has the highest theft rate of all their nearly 9,000 U.S. stores, hit more than a dozen times a day when thieves turn to cleaning out ice cream and frozen burritos, workers grew so frustrated, they resorted to the chains,” Lah reported. “They were ordered down by corporate because of the negative messaging.”
Unfortunately, this issue is not limited to Walgreens alone. Other stores in the city have also been forced to lock up their merchandise, including a nearby grocery store that had to secure bags of coffee.
One interviewee from the grocery store expressed his astonishment at the situation, describing San Francisco as resembling a “police state.”
San Francisco supervisor Matt Dorsey acknowledged the severity of the problem and emphasized the need for action. He stated, “We are not doing any addict in this city favors by enabling behavior that is potentially deadly in ways we have never seen.”

In San Francisco, we went to the Walgreens that is the #1 spot for theft in all the 9000 US stores, per Walgreens. This is where chains once shut the freezer section. And we saw 3 thefts right in front of us. But across SF, coffee, mustard, nail polish– are all locked up: pic.twitter.com/IfYBVgpeI2
