Yosemite park staff defy uniform rules for Pride parade.
Yosemite National Park Celebrates Pride Event
Staff at Yosemite National Park recently made headlines when they held a vibrant “pride” event at the iconic outdoor destination in California.
Environmentalist drag queen, Pattie Gonia, shared a video on Yahoo News to celebrate the park’s pride parade, which took place on June 8.
“Hello, in case you didn’t know, gay people are literally taking over the National Park System,” exclaimed Gonia, who has been coordinating these celebrations for the past three years. “As you can see, there are literal hundreds of queer Yosemite employees.”
However, many of these employees seemed to have violated the National Park Service’s uniform code by participating in the event. The code explicitly prohibits wearing the uniform in demonstrations or public events that could be seen as supporting a specific issue, position, or political party. Gonia’s video shows uniformed employees proudly waving “progress pride” flags throughout the park in support of transgenderism.
“We danced, we marched, we celebrated, and we got wet,” proclaimed Gonia. “I am so proud of all the community organizers in the park system who are making safe space for queer people all year round.”
“No planet, no pride,” Gonia added. “Mother Nature is a lesbian. Goodbye!”
The official Instagram account of Yosemite National Park also shared a post featuring a park ranger with a trans-pride flag tucked into her hat.
“Though the color scheme of Yosemite can often lend itself to a muted, earth-toned palette, this month we are making sure the full vibrancy of our human story shines,” read the post. “As a park, we are committed not only to telling diverse stories, but to making sure that Yosemite is a place where all feel safe and welcome to take pride in their environment and foster relationships of mutual respect with plants, animals, and each other.”
One user received over 3,000 “likes” for criticizing the park’s pride imposition.
“Nothing like a horde of people making a political statement while you’re trying to enjoy your brief break from society,” the user wrote.
Gonia, the drag queen organizer, dismissed the complaints as “hate.”
“[T]o everyone spewing hate on this post, I wish you knew you were actually loved… loved by non-binary, pansexual mother nature,” Gonia responded.
Neither the Department of the Interior nor the National Park Service has responded to The Federalist’s request for comment.
The adoption of the rainbow banner alongside federal uniforms is just another example of far-left activists asserting their political positions as matters of human rights. This moral justification allows proponents of federally sponsored activism to label anyone opposing their cultural agenda as proponents of “hate.”
