A Guaranteed Income Program in Wisconsin

A guaranteed income program in Wisconsin is set to issue its latest payment, worth $500, to recipients in just two days.

The payments are made through the Madison Forward Fund, which provides monthly payments to 155 households in Madison, Wisconsin. Recipients have the freedom to spend the money in any way they choose.

Payment Schedule and Eligibility

While payments are typically issued on the first day of each month, this month’s payment is being issued a day earlier on Friday, as July 1 falls on a Saturday this year, according to the program manager.

To be eligible for this payment, recipients must be residents of Madison, Wisconsin, at least 18 years old, and have at least one child aged 17 or younger living with them. Additionally, their annual income must be below 200% of the federal poverty level, which varies based on household size.

For example, a household of two cannot make more than $36,620 per year, while a household of eight cannot exceed $93,260 annually.

Survey Participation and Compensation

Recipients of the guaranteed income program will be asked to complete online surveys every six months, which typically take about 30 minutes. The answers provided on these surveys are completely confidential, and recipients will be compensated $30 for each survey completed.

While only 155 families are currently receiving the monthly payments, an additional 200 families have been given the opportunity to participate in the surveys.
