A new poll shows that large numbers of Americans think China poses a threat to their economy and are worried that American businesses rely too heavily on the Communist government to produce goods.

Eighty-four% of respondents identified China. “economic threat,” A poll by CRC Advisors, a public relations firm for the 85 Fund (a conservative advocacy organisation), revealed that only 10% of respondents thought China was a threat to American businesses. Only 10 percent of those polled said China was not a threat for American businesses. 6 percent were uncertain.

The poll—which was conducted from Feb. 16-20, just after a Chinese Communist Party spy balloon was shot down traversing the United States—details increasing American skepticism toward China and its economic practices. Apart from spying on private companies and stealing American research, the Communist regime forced many American business partners into moving their manufacturing plants to China. Many members of Congress consider the CCP’s control of American supply chains to be a national security risk.

These findings show that both Democrats and Republicans view China as a danger and would like to see America’s economic dependence on China end.

Eighty-seven% of the polled expressed concern “that many U.S.-based businesses rely on China to produce their products,” Not including 50% who claimed they are “very concerned” This is a serious issue. Only 10% of respondents did not consider this a problem.

Eighty-nine per cent of respondents said that “U.S. should enact new laws and policies that reduce our dependence on Chinese manufacturing.” And 73% said that they would choose an American-made product to purchase over a Chinese product if given the option.

The majority of Americans would spend more for American-made products. Polled Americans guessed that they would pay anywhere from 5 to 25% more for products made in China. Only 15% of those polled said they would not pay more if it was made in America.

A similar percentage of respondents said they are “less likely to purchase goods and services from a company that partners with China.”

These findings are consistent with similar polls on American attitudes towards China. Pew’s 2022 survey showed that 82% of Americans view the CCP government negatively.
