3 Dead In Louisiana As Tornadoes Strike Across South

At least three people were reportedly killed in Louisiana on Tuesday as several tornadoes were spotted across the nation’s southern states.

The deaths included a 30-year-old mother, her young son, and one other reported fatality.

“At 2:27 a.m. the missing mother was found deceased one street over from where her home was destroyed in the Pecan Farms area of Keithville, LA. She was located under debris caused by a tornado,” the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on its Facebook page.

“A young boy was found deceased in a wooded area of Pecan Farms where his home was destroyed,” noting the discovery of the woman’s son.

A third person was also reported dead in the area, but the identity of that person has not yet been confirmed, according to Fox News.

“Right now it’s just a horrible mess down there,” Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator told WATE-TV Tuesday night. “We’ve got pads of homes and trailers that actually is just, it’s just the pad, and we don’t even know where the trailer homes or some of the homes are. And so we’re following debris fields trying to find the actual residents and then try to find if there’s people inside the residence. So it’s power lines down trees down everywhere down there, it’s just a total, total mess.”

One resident in the Four Folks, Louisiana, area captured footage of a tornado that he said “appeared to be on the ground for about 12 minutes.”
