Arrest of Navy Sailors for Espionage
Federal prosecutors made a significant breakthrough on August 3rd, apprehending two Navy sailors involved in a shocking case of espionage. These individuals stand accused of jeopardizing U.S. national security by sharing classified military information with China.
The Accused: Wei Jinchao
One of the arrested sailors, Wei Jinchao, who also goes by the name Patrick Wei, has been indicted for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy to transmit national defense information to a Chinese intelligence officer. Wei was taken into custody on August 2nd, right after arriving at his workplace, Naval Base San Diego, which serves as the homeport of the Pacific Fleet.
