Zuckerberg urges to ‘let go’ of potential clash with Musk.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg Doubts Potential Fight with Elon Musk Will Ever Happen
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, has expressed doubt that the highly anticipated fight between him and fellow billionaire Elon Musk will ever come to fruition. In a recent public statement, Zuckerberg stated that Musk “isn’t serious” about making the fight happen and listed several reasons why it cannot take place. These reasons include Musk claiming he needs surgery and wanting to practice in Zuckerberg’s backyard. Zuckerberg also mentioned that he had offered a specific date for the fight to occur. Interestingly, Dana White, the president of Ultimate Fighting Championship, has even offered to make the fight “a legit competition,” as revealed in a post on Threads, Meta’s alternative to Twitter.

“If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me,” Zuckerberg said. “Otherwise, it’s time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.”
Zuckerberg’s skepticism about the fight ever happening comes just a week after Musk announced that the fight would be livestreamed on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. Musk also pledged to donate all proceeds from the fight to charity for veterans.
Zuckerberg has playfully mocked Musk’s proposal to host the fight on X, suggesting that it should be livestreamed on a platform ”that can actually raise money for charity.”
Walter Isaacson, Musk’s biographer, stated in July that the supposed cage fight between Musk and Zuckerberg is merely a metaphor for their ongoing online battle between X and Threads. Isaacson added that an actual physical fight between the two men is highly unlikely and that Musk’s attitude towards Zuckerberg stems from his impulsive nature and what Isaacson calls “demon mode.”
“He really loves it, and he loves putting out impulsive tweets,” Isaacson said. “He loves the contentiousness of it. You know his favorite line in a movie is, ‘Are you not entertained?’ That final line of the Gladiator, and that’s what distinguishes Twitter, for better or worse, from platforms like Threads.”
In July, Zuckerberg revealed that he had earned a blue belt in jujitsu and was learning the martial art from “jujitsu legend” Mikey Musumeci. It was during this time that he and Musk agreed to a cage match between themselves, which was initially proposed in June.
