Yuengling lauded for supporting age limits at drag events.
Yuengling Earns Praise for Backing Age Restrictions for Drag Shows
Yuengling, known as “America’s Oldest Brewery,” has recently found itself in the midst of controversy surrounding a drag show and its association with radical LGBT activism. However, the company has shown Bud Light how to handle such situations with grace and integrity.
The controversy began when social media posts questioned why Yuengling was sponsoring a drag show that claimed to be “family-friendly” and allowed children to attend. The event was scheduled as part of Musikfest, an annual festival in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, which Yuengling has sponsored in the past.
The drag show, titled “Draggin’ with the Divas,” was advertised as a performance featuring music by popular Queens. However, it was later revealed that Yuengling had no involvement in the drag show itself, and the brewery’s name was included in the ad simply because they were a sponsor of the overall music fest.
Unlike Bud Light, Yuengling took immediate action to set the record straight. In a statement shared on Twitter, the company clarified that they support ArtsQuest, the organization behind Musikfest, but have no control over the events and policies at the venue. They also expressed their commitment to promoting responsible drinking and working with ArtsQuest to establish appropriate age restrictions for sponsored venues.

ArtsQuest also confirmed that Yuengling had no involvement in the drag show or its admission policies. They emphasized that sponsors like Yuengling have no control over the acts or content booked for their venues.
Yuengling’s swift response and transparency earned praise on social media, with users commending the company for taking a stand and clarifying the situation.

This is a garbage story. Yuengling has sponsored the event called Musikfest broadly since 1984. These freaks intentionally appropriated the association. Don’t do this to good people. We have enough to fight without making it up. @Timcast https://t.co/XuYgY9NRyk

Good job Yuengling, keep drag shows as ADULT entertainment! If I could get your beer here in California I would buy it! Thank you for setting a great example for our country pic.twitter.com/v510xJpkdI

It is important to note that drag shows are not inherently “family-friendly” events and should be restricted to adults only. Yuengling’s prompt response and clear statement have demonstrated their commitment to responsible sponsorship and addressing controversies effectively.
Overall, Yuengling’s handling of this situation deserves praise, as they have shown how to navigate a controversy with transparency and integrity.
