Young Brit Slams U.S. Leftists Mocking Mourning Of Queen: You Mourned George Floyd

A young conservative British commentator took aim at American leftists who mocked the British for mourning their beloved Queen Elizabeth, who died last week.

Sophie Corcoran, who has appeared on Sky News and other outlets and boasts 124,000 Twitter followers, said the same critics across the pond were likely mourning the death of George Floyd two years ago. The outspoken 20-year-old noted Floyd’s criminal past, as well as the Left’s violent way of showing its outrage over his killing at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer.

“Dear Americans who mock us for mourning our beloved queen,” Corcoran tweeted. “She dedicated her entire life to her duty and our country even just two days before her death. You mourned a man who pointed a gun at a pregnant woman by burning cities to the ground. We are not the same.”

Corcoran’s mention of a pregnant woman apparently referred to an incident in August 2007, in which Floyd was reportedly was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon after “he and five other men barged into a woman’s apartment, and Floyd pushed a pistol into her abdomen before searching for items to steal.”

The 2020 riots that followed Floyd’s death killed at least 25 people and caused as much as $2 billion in damages across the nation, according to estimates.

Corcoran has previously made waves for her staunch support of the state of Israel. In June 2021, she wrote a column for the Jewish Telegraph explaining her support for the Jewish state.

“I don’t have to be Jewish and I don’t have to be Israeli to know it is the right thing to do,” she wrote. “Why wouldn’t I support the only democracy in the Middle East’s right to exist?”

Corcoran’s backing of Israel has subjected her to threats and  abuse because “the Instagram culture of woke, poorly informed infographics” prompts ill-informed people to deny the Jewish State’s right to exist, she wrote. But she called on people of all faiths to stand with Israel and not give in to the anti-Semitic mob.

“I have been on the receiving end of an astronomical amount of vile abuse, not only online but also in person,” she wrote. “I received many abusive messages on Twitter for defending Israel’s right to exist, including repeatedly being told to kill myself and threats such as people wanting to ‘smash a bottle’ in my face and throw acid at me.

“If that isn’t bad enough, I was threatened to be ‘jumped’ by people from my sixth-form who I didn’t even know, and had to stay away from that part of the building for my own safety,” she added. “We must not give in to the abuse. We must never give in. Stand with Israel.”
