“Yellowstone” star Kelly Reilly has dropped hints that the newfound love between her character Beth Dutton and on-screen partner Rip Wheeler, played by Cole Hauser, may not stand the test of time.

“Beth is haunted by her past,” Reilly revealed in a behind-the-scenes clip on the Blu-ray and DVD release of “Yellowstone” season 5, part one. “She has a lot of regrets and secrets that he doesn’t know. So there is something simmering beneath the surface that will inevitably come to light, and she’s afraid she might lose him.”
“I’m approaching it almost like the audience,” Reilly added. “Although I’ve played her for over five years now, I still feel like I’m discovering new aspects of her character. There are still surprises in the scripts that I didn’t expect, just like the viewers. We all rely on the storyteller’s vision and serve the story. The uncertainty of what’s to come is what makes it exciting for me as an actor.”

Beth, portrayed by Reilly since the premiere of the Paramount network series in 2018, finally tied the knot with Hauser’s character at the end of season 4 after years of an on-and-off relationship.
The popular series is set to conclude with the second half of season 5 due to a contract dispute between Costner and Paramount. Originally scheduled to air in summer 2023, the ongoing strike among writers and actors may delay the season’s conclusion until next year.
