Enes Kanter Freedom Challenges WNBA on Trans Athlete Acceptance
Enes Kanter Freedom, former NBA player, suggested an unconventional approach to address the acceptance of trans-identifying athletes in the WNBA. During an interview with “America’s Newsroom,” Freedom proposed the idea of wearing a wig, adopting the name ”Enisha,” and trying out for the WNBA. He believed that this bold move would finally awaken people’s outrage when they witnessed a biological male not only taking a spot from a biological female but also dominating in professional women’s sports.
Where Are the Women’s Rights Activists?
Freedom questioned the absence of women’s rights activists and feminists in this debate. He wondered if it would be fair for him, a seven-foot, two-hundred-and-seventy-pound individual, to identify as a woman, play in the WNBA, and potentially hinder the dreams of women who have been pursuing their goals since childhood. He found it intriguing that such a discussion even existed.
Freedom further emphasized his stance by posting a photoshopped image of himself wearing a wig and smiling, declaring, ”I’m identifying myself as a woman! Lol. From now on, y’all can call me ENISHA Freedom. I’m a 7-foot, 270-pound biological male who wants to compete in women’s sports. Hey, @WNBA, are you hiring?”

This was not the first time Freedom broached this topic. In a previous post on his X account, he expressed his belief that men should not be present in women’s spaces, including restrooms, locker rooms, and sports. As he faced being blackballed from the NBA, he pondered whether donning a wig, identifying as a woman, and dominating the WNBA would finally spark the outrage he anticipated. He questioned the fairness of such a scenario for women who have dedicated their lives to achieving their goals. He also called out women’s rights activists and feminists for their apparent silence.
