Kevin Stitt signed an executive order Monday halting the state from issuing nonbinary birth certificates.<\/p>\n<p>The executive order makes it so the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) has to \u201ccease amending birth certificates\u201d that do not follow state law. Stitt released a statement in late October saying he believes non-binary sexes do not exist and that humans are created by God to be either a male or a female.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe that people are created by God to be male or female. Period. There is no such thing as non-binary sex and I wholeheartedly condemn the purported OSDH court settlement that was entered into by rogue activists who acted without receiving proper approval or oversight,\u201d Stitt said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will be taking whatever action necessary to protect Oklahoma values and our way of life,\u201d he added. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/09\/governor-oklahoma-pro-life-nine-bills\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: Gov. (Photo by Alex Wong\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The federal lawsuit was originally filed by Kit Vivien Lorelied, who is a male and identifies as a nonbinary, against the health department in August 2020 after the department shot down a request to allow a name and sex change on Lorelied\u2019s Oklahoma birth certificate in December 2019, Oklahoma News 4 <a href=\"https:\/\/kfor.com\/news\/local\/gov-stitt-orders-halt-to-oklahoma-nonbinary-birth-certificates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/03\/11\/governor-oklahoma-kevin-stitt-announces-lifting-all-coronavirus-restrictions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Governor Of Oklahoma Kevin Stitt Announces He Is Lifting All Coronavirus Restrictions)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ODSH responded to the decision in a <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/state-watch\/581153-republican-oklahoma-governor-orders-halt-to-nonbinary-birth-certificates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a> to The Hill, saying, \u201cPursuant to Governor Stitt\u2019s Executive Order, OSDH will continue to amend birth certificates as allowed by law. These amendments will include legal change of name or corrections of errors.
