In the original video, he did not exhibit facial weakness.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Gatekeeper_1111\/status\/1458157383079776258?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">video<\/a> purportedly showing Newsom exhibiting facial weakness circulated amid the California governor <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/coronavirus-pandemic-gavin-newsom-california-health-social-media-006d591914fcc277162a9bce05e21b68\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">not appearing in public<\/a> for almost two weeks. His absence from the public eye, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2021-11-09\/newsom-sudden-pause-on-public-events-sparks-social-media-speculation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Los Angeles Times<\/a> reported, prompted some to speculate online about what caused it, though he later participated in a Nov. 9 economic summit.<\/p>\n<p>One user who shared the viral clip commented, \u201cUm\u2026 What\u2019s wrong with his face.\u201d The video, however, has been digitally manipulated to make it seem like Newsom\u2019s face was drooping on one side. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/08\/05\/fact-check-california-mail-ballots-recall-election-delta-variant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Image Claims California Is Sending Mail-In Ballots To Voters For Gavin Newsom\u2019s Recall Election Due To The Delta Variant)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The verified Office of the Governor of California Twitter account posted the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CAgovernor\/status\/1456325241731387397?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">original video<\/a> Nov. 4. His face did not exhibit any drooping or paralysis during that event, either.<\/p>\n<p>Some social media users speculated Newsom\u2019s disappearance was due to an adverse reaction to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0SLgDNnU6xI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">COVID-19 vaccine booster shot<\/a> that, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2021\/11\/08\/wheres-gov-newsom-aide-dispels-bad-booster-reaction-rumor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mercury News<\/a>, he received Oct. 27.
