Schroeder, appearing annoyed, immediately silenced his phone and moved on with the trial.<\/p>\n<p>Critics <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblaze.com\/news\/rittenhouse-judge-ringtone-liberals-mistrial\">said<\/a> that the ringtone was evidence of bias because former President Donald Trump would also play the Lee Greenwood song at his campaign rallies. One prominent progressive, Bryan Behar, claimed the patriotic song is the \u201cMAGA national anthem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApparently, the judge in the Rittenhouse case has Lee Greenwood as his ringtone. That\u2019s literally the MAGA national anthem. Can\u2019t we just jump ahead to the appeal?\u201d television writer Bryan Behar tweeted.<\/p>\n<p>Progressive commentator Lindy Li claimed Schroeder\u2019s ringtone is \u201cTrump\u2019s theme song\u201d and accused the judge of \u201cperforming for the Fox News lemmings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe judge\u2019s phone rang during the Rittenhouse trial,\u201d Li <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lindyli\/status\/1458545956627128323\">tweeted<\/a>. \u201cIt was Trump\u2019s theme song which played every time he was on stage. I kid you not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSame judge who just aggressively yelled at the prosecutor, prohibited him from calling the victims victims &amp; is acting like Kyle\u2019s defense lawyer,\u201d she continued. \u201cHe attacked CNN in court and constantly interferes with Rittenhouse\u2019s cross examination, playing defense for the murderer[.] Schroeder doesn\u2019t seem to care about maintaining even a veneer of fairness. He\u2019s outright performing for the Fox News lemmings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pete Souza, former Chief Official White House Photographer for former President Barack Obama, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PeteSouza\/status\/1458570278716559364\">retweeted<\/a> a video of Schroeder\u2019s phone going off, saying, \u201cMistrial. Assign a new judge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schroeder ripped into the prosecution on Wednesday during Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger\u2019s questioning of Rittenhouse, who is on trial for killing two men and wounding a third during a riot last year in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Schroeder accused Binger of risking a violation the defendant\u2019s constitutional rights for bringing up Rittenhouse\u2019s \u201cpretrial silence.\u201d As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-watch-rittenhouse-judge-stops-trial-explodes-after-prosecutor-risks-grave-constitutional-violation\">The Daily Wire<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n<p><em>Schroeder stopped the trial and sent the jury into a nearby room minutes after Binger had begun his examination of Rittenhouse.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe problem is this is a grave constitutional violation for you to talk about the defendant\u2019s silence, and that is, you\u2019re right on the borderline. The second infraction brought an explosion from the judge over the first, and Schroeder again ripped into Binger for potentially violating Rittenhouse\u2019s rights protected under the Constitution.\u201cI was astonished when you began your examination by commenting on the defendant\u2019s post-arrest silence. That\u2019s basic law. It\u2019s been basic law in this country for 40 years, 50 years. I have no idea why you would do something like that! And it gives, well, I\u2019ll leave it at that. So I don\u2019t know what you\u2019re up to,\u201d Schroeder said.\u201cI have to be concerned that, with what Mr. Richards has said about the progress of the trial when you were way, well, I said you were close to or over the line on commenting on the defendant\u2019s pretrial silence, which is a well-known rule,\u201d the judge later added. \u201cI am astonished that that would have been an issue. So I don\u2019t want to have another issue for as long as this case continues.
