DeAngelis (@DeAngelisCorey) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DeAngelisCorey\/status\/1458564468124880900?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 10, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>PDE has been keeping track of states\u2019 responses following emails asking NSBA member states about their views of the letter characterizing concerned parents as potential \u201cdomestic terrorists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NSBA\u2019s own board of directors&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/23\/nsba-directors-renounce-letter-asking-biden-to-target-parents-as-domestic-terrorists\/\">renounced<\/a>&nbsp;the letter to Biden sent by Chip Slaven, NSBA\u2019s interim executive director and CEO, and Viola Garcia, the association\u2019s president, writing on October 22 they \u201cregret and apologize\u201d for its content.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"8.258785942492\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NSBAPublicEd?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@NSBAPublicEd<\/a> apologized to members Friday for its letter to President Biden about threats toward school board members, saying the organization would review its communication processes and other procedures. Read the letter: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/a3HqKUfdTt\">https:\/\/t.co\/a3HqKUfdTt<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/gjNtp4glcm\">pic.twitter.com\/gjNtp4glcm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 OSBA (@OSBANews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OSBANews\/status\/1451708920796377091?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 23, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Emails obtained by PDE at the end of October through a public records request <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/21\/emails-reveal-nsba-top-officers-worked-white-house-letter-targeting-parents-domestic-terrorists\/\">indicated<\/a>&nbsp;Garcia and Slaven worked with the White House prior to sending their September 29 letter to Biden requesting federal law enforcement use the PATRIOT Act to target parents as \u201cdomestic terrorists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The redacted emails revealed that, on October 2, Garcia wrote to the NSBA directors, \u201cThese are troubling times.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cNSBA has been engaged with the White House and the Department of Education on these and other issues related to the pandemic for several weeks now,\u201d she continued. \u201cThe pandemic and our heightened political environment have created a lot of tension in our society.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"11\">\n<p>What we have witnessed are coordinated efforts,&nbsp;<em>playbooks<\/em>, for creating chaos at school board meetings and in local communities. Letters across states are very similar and these incidents are beyond random acts. Stand with us &amp; email <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/usedgov?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@usedgov<\/a> here: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4hLGkX7tm0\">https:\/\/t.co\/4hLGkX7tm0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Parents Defending Education (@DefendingEd) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DefendingEd\/status\/1457784282668167171?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 8, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Biden Education Department&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.gov\/news\/press-releases\/five-board-members-appointed-board-overseeing-nations-report-card\">announced<\/a>&nbsp;October 13 it had appointed Garcia to the National Assessment Governing Board, which oversees which subjects are assessed by the National Assessment of Educational Progress, also known as the Nation\u2019s Report Card.<\/p>\n<p>Attorney General Merrick Garland&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/21\/ag-merrick-garland-admits-he-took-word-of-national-school-boards-association-to-target-parents-as-domestic-terrorists\/\">testified<\/a> on October 21 at a House Judiciary Committee hearing he took the word of the NSBA officials that parents voicing their concerns at local school board meetings should be investigated as possible \u201cdomestic terrorists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rep.
