The two regain their feet and begin walking down the court when the assailant delivered a brutal roundhouse swing without warning that connected with Lauryn\u2019s chin and throat sending the smaller girl crumpling to the floor.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Lauryn\u2019s mother posted the video to Instagram saying that the incident \u201cmakes me SICK to my stomach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>WATCH:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/tv\/CWBrtHNlZ0Q\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" readability=\"-0.30882352941176\">\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Alice Ham went on to explain, \u201cThis happened to MY DAUGHTER at her game yesterday. There is absolutely no place for something like this in basketball, I don\u2019t care how famous you are!! This mom told her daughter to \u2018go and hit her\u2019 and my kid gets an unprovoked sucker punch. I\u2019m sorry but it\u2019s everything that\u2019s wrong with youth sports. The girl and her mom showed absolutely no remorse and offered no apology. Youth sports needs to change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, I was in total shock,\u201d Mrs. Ham told Channel 7. \u201cI just couldn\u2019t believe that could happen to my child.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou always see things on video and you never think it could happen to you. To actually see it and know that was my kid just hurt me so bad,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI want the daughter and the mom held accountable,\u201d Ham said. \u201cBecause this type of behavior is reprehensible and cannot happen in youth sports.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An attorney for the violent attacker released a statement to ABC-7 <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7.com\/basketball-sucker-punch-girls-punches-player-alice-ham-lauryn\/11218176\/\" target=\" _blank\" rel=\"noopener\">calling<\/a> for \u201cperspective\u201d and then attacking people who criticized the attacker on social media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy client and her family are deeply and sincerely remorseful. This is an unfortunate incident involving a very hard working and promising student athlete. We must keep some perspective and keep in mind that this is a young minor who has made a mistake,\u201d attorney Brett Greenfield told the station.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe comments on social media in response to this incident are a cause of great concern for both the minor and her family.
