Here\u2019s the deal, guys. I\u2019ll get the vaccine; you f***ing leave me alone!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prior to that, Peterson discussed how the West had moved toward becoming a totalitarian state after the COVID-19 &nbsp;pandemic started. He stated:<\/p>\n<p><em>The thing that surprised me the most, probably, was how rapidly we stampeded to imitate a totalitarian state in the immediate aftermath of the release of COVID. You know, if you think it through a little bit, no one really knew how serious the virus was going to be, and so it was an unknown threat. And so you could imagine a herd of animals or a school of fish, for that matter, because this kind of phenomena is universal throughout the animal kingdom. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The cost of overreacting to a threat is generally minimal compared to underreacting to a real threat. Overreacting to a hypothetical threat is cheap compared to underreacting to an actual threat, because if you underreact you could die, whereas if you overreact you generally just get tired for a minute.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo a herd will stampede because the most neurotic member of the herd jumps first, and then they\u2019ll instantly follow them,\u201d he explained. \u201cAnd that\u2019s kind of what we did in the early stages of the pandemic. The Chinese acted first \u2014 now, unfortunately they are a totalitarian state \u2014 and we all followed. And I think that\u2019s backwards \u2026\u201d\u201cNow we have his son, and it\u2019s like, yeah? What\u2019s it good for?\u201d he asked rhetorically. \u201cMy father isn\u2019t vaccinated; he decided not to, partly because they were telling him he had to. \u2026 In any case, it\u2019s extraordinarily annoying to see this happening, and to then find out that there\u2019s nothing behind it except the most instrumental and cowardly random polling is extremely disheartening and also maddening and also angering; all of those things at once.\u201dWhen Rubin asked if polling was out of whack, Peterson, who has conducted polls in the past, answered, \u201cOf course it\u2019s out of whack. Jesus Christ, how do you get accurate polling data? Well, okay, over what time frame? You\u2019re gonna poll every day? How about every hour? How about every minute? Every week? Every two weeks? Who answers the phone calls when you do the polls? How did you construct the questions? Are you eliciting a particular kind of answer because you paid insufficient attention to the way the question was posed?\u201d\u201c\u2026 But to see that happening in spite of the much-vaunted protection for our rights \u2014 you know, Canadians who aren\u2019t vaccinated now cannot leave the country. Like, what the hell? Why is that? And I\u2019m \u2014 look, I got vaccinated, and people took me to task for that, and I thought, all right, I\u2019ll get the damn vaccine. Here\u2019s the deal, guys. I\u2019ll get the vaccine; you f***ing leave me alone,\u201d Peterson stated.\u201cAnd did that work? No. So, stupid me, you know?\u201d he commented. \u201cThat\u2019s how I feel about it. It\u2019s like, well, now I have to get tested for COVID when I come back into Canada. I have to get tested before I leave Canada. Now, that might be \u2014 the latter issue, that\u2019s an issue with the Americans, so that\u2019s outside of the Canadian purview, but the restrictions to get back into Canada are even more stringent.
