None of the Dallas Zoo\u2019s animals have been vaccinated against COVID-19 at this time.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Facebook post features a screen grab of an article from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcdfw.com\/news\/coronavirus\/fort-worth-dallas-zoos-plan-to-vaccinate-animals-against-covid-19\/2732218\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NBC DFW<\/a> titled \u201cFort Worth, Dallas Zoos Plan to Vaccinate Animals Against COVID-19\u201d and a screen grab of an article from <a href=\"https:\/\/dfw.cbslocal.com\/2021\/10\/30\/dallas-zoo-giraffe-jesse-passes-away-marking-zoos-3rd-giraffe-death-this-month\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CBS DFW<\/a> titled \u201cDallas Zoo Giraffe \u2018Jesse\u2019 Passes Away, Marking Zoo\u2019s 3rd Giraffe Death This Month.\u201d Text accompanying the images <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/OSINTBreakingNews\/posts\/956776788524929\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">alleges<\/a>, \u201c3 giraffes are now dead, one month after getting vaccinated at the Dallas, TX zoo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But, contrary to the post\u2019s claim, the three giraffe deaths at the Dallas Zoo aren\u2019t connected in any way to COVID-19 vaccines. The Dallas Zoo said in September that it had asked for <a href=\"https:\/\/news.zoetis.com\/press-releases\/press-release-details\/2021\/Zoetis-Donates-COVID-19-Vaccines-to-Help-Support-the-Health-of-Zoo-Animals\/default.aspxhttps:\/\/news.zoetis.com\/press-releases\/press-release-details\/2021\/Zoetis-Donates-COVID-19-Vaccines-to-Help-Support-the-Health-of-Zoo-Animals\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">COVID-19 vaccines formulated for animals<\/a> for its big cat and ape populations but was still on a waitlist for the doses, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcdfw.com\/news\/coronavirus\/fort-worth-dallas-zoos-plan-to-vaccinate-animals-against-covid-19\/2732218\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NBC DFW<\/a> reported. The NBC DFW article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcdfw.com\/news\/coronavirus\/fort-worth-dallas-zoos-plan-to-vaccinate-animals-against-covid-19\/2732218\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">does not mention<\/a> giraffes at any point.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the Dallas Zoo\u2019s giraffes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=245481134276639&amp;set=a.206183841539702\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">14-year-old Jesse<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/DallasZoo\/posts\/241190261372393\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">19-year-old Auggie<\/a>, passed away in October, with the zoo suspecting a \u201cpossible connection\u201d between the deaths due to both exhibiting liver damage, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/11\/02\/us\/giraffe-deaths-dallas-zoo\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CNN<\/a> reported. The zoo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=245481134276639&amp;set=a.206183841539702\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wrote<\/a> on Facebook Nov. 1 it was focusing \u201con the possibility that they were exposed to a toxin of some sort, either through a food source, in the exhibit space, or introduced via a foreign object.\u201d Those two deaths came after another giraffe, a 3-month-old calf, injured its leg and had to be euthanized earlier the same month, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/11\/02\/us\/giraffe-deaths-dallas-zoo\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the zoo wrote <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=250630143761738&amp;set=a.206183841539702\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on Facebook<\/a> that it was still investigating the deaths of Jesse and Auggie, saying in part, \u201cWe are talking to experts daily &amp; relying on lab results to guide us toward a possible source that would cause the type of liver damage seen in the necropsy in both animals. We still believe exposure to a toxin is a potential connection given the abnormal liver enzymes, but we are exploring every possible cause \u2013 from bacteria, to parasite, to diseases.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Dallas Zoo confirmed in an email to Check Your Fact that \u201cnone of our animals have received the COVID-19 vaccine at this time.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2020\/07\/31\/fact-check-seven-headed-snake-honduras\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Does This Photo Show A Real 7-Headed Snake?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are still on the waiting list to receive shipments of the vaccine from Zoetis.
