At the time, the media falsely called him a \u201cwhite supremacist\u201d; then-candidate Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/09\/30\/joe-biden-claims-without-evidence-kyle-rittenhouse-is-a-white-supremacist\/\">repeated<\/a> the claim, though there was never any evidence to back up that inflammatory charge.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Under cross-examination, key prosecution witnesses admitted that Rittenhouse only shot those who were attacking him.<\/p>\n<p>Yet most establishment media outlets continued to report the trial as if Rittenhouse\u2019s guilt were somehow inevitable.<\/p>\n<p>Grosskreutz, for example, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/08\/kyle-rittenhouse-trial-witness-gaige-grosskreutz-admits-pointed-gun-advanced-teen-before-shot\/\">admitted<\/a>&nbsp;that Rittenhouse only shot him after he pointed his own gun at Rittenhouse.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Yet CBS News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/kyle-rittenhouse-shooting-survivor-gaige-grosskreutz-testifies-i-was-going-to-die\/\">reported<\/a> Grosskreutz\u2019s testimony under the headline: \u201cLone survivor shot by Kyle Rittenhouse at Kenosha protests says he thought he \u2018was going to die.&#8217;\u201d The headline left out Grosskreutz\u2019s admission that he was armed, and also suggests that Rittenhouse targeted protesters, rather than firing at people who were actively pursuing him during a melee.<\/p>\n<p>National Public Radio also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/11\/08\/1053567574\/kyle-rittenhouse-trial-gaige-grosskreutz-testimony-kenosha\">portrayed<\/a> Grosskreutz as a victim, while downplaying the fact that he admitted pointing the gun at Rittenhouse, suggesting that he did not intend to do so. (Defense attorney: \u201cIt wasn\u2019t until you pointed your gun at him, advanced on him \u2026 that he fired, right?\u201d Grosskreutz: \u201cCorrect.\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>Washington Post<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/nation\/2021\/11\/08\/gaige-grosskreutz-says-he-feared-his-life-before-kyle-rittenhouse-shot-him-during-kenosha-unrest\/\">reported<\/a> that Grosskreutz did, in fact, intend to point his gun at Rittenhouse, but reported that fact as follows: \u201cGaige Grosskreutz says he feared for his life, pointed gun at Kyle Rittenhouse before getting shot.\u201d The article reported: \u201cIn his testimony, Grosskreutz acknowledged confronting Rittenhouse with a gun in one hand but denied he ever intended to shoot him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As the prosecution has stumbled, the media have turned to criticizing Judge Bruce Schroeder:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.7142857142857\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">As Kyle Rittenhouse trial nears end, judge\u2019s decisions from the bench come under scrutiny <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/AeF0VMFOdA\">https:\/\/t.co\/AeF0VMFOdA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Washington Post (@washingtonpost) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/washingtonpost\/status\/1458497865354039300?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 10, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Numerous critics of the media coverage, most of them conservative, have warned that the establishment media\u2019s portrayal of the trial could lead to shock, outrage, and even violence if Rittenhouse is acquitted. Already, defense lawyers are suggesting they may move for a mistrial based on what the judge has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/law-and-order\/2021\/11\/10\/furious-judge-in-rittenhouse-trial-accuses-prosecution-of-grave-constitutional-violation\/\">said<\/a> are \u201cgrave constitutional violation[s]\u2019 by the prosecution.<\/p>\n<p><em>Joel B.
