Joe Manchin said Wednesday that lawmakers can no longer ignore worsening inflation, which consumer data showed hit a 30-year high.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy all accounts, the threat posed by record inflation to the American people is not \u2018transitory\u2019 and is instead getting worse,\u201d Manchin said in a tweet. \u201cFrom the grocery store to the gas pump, Americans know the inflation tax is real and DC can no longer ignore the economic pain Americans feel every day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Manchin\u2019s statement came shortly after the Labor Department announcement that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.9% in October and 6.2% over a year\u2019s span, the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/10\/inflation-consumer-price-index-bureau-labor-statistics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">highest rate in three decades<\/a>. And while the House version of the bill includes long-sought Democratic priorities like paid family leave, Manchin has already made clear where he stands.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have a lot of concerns, let\u2019s put it that way,\u201d Manchin said during an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/manchin-spanberger-biden-progressives-reconciliation-infrastructure-fdr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">interview<\/a> with Fox News last week. \u201cThey\u2019re working off the House bill.
