The lawsuits also name rapper Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham, as well as Live Nation and NRG Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>The Astroworld Festival <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/8-confirmed-dead-at-music-festival-after-crowd-surged-toward-stage-during-rapper-travis-scotts-set\">ended<\/a> in tragedy last week after a sold-out crowd surged toward the stage during Scott\u2019s performance after Drake made an appearance. Some members of the audience were packed so tightly that they couldn\u2019t breathe, and eight people lost their lives due to the crush.<\/p>\n<p>Scott continued to perform for roughly 40 minutes after law enforcement noticed people going down in the crowd, according to reports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe crowd became tighter and tighter, and at that point it was hard to breathe. When Travis came out performing his first song, I witnessed people passing out next to me,\u201d one 20-year-old attendee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/this-was-not-a-concert-this-was-a-fight-for-survival-travis-scott-concertgoers-speak-of-horror-stampede\">said<\/a>. \u201cWe were all screaming for help, and no one helped or heard us. It was horrifying. People were screaming for their lives, and they couldn\u2019t get out. Nobody could move a muscle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Manuel Souza, who attended the Astroworld Festival, filed a lawsuit against Scott after suffering \u201cserious bodily injuries when the uncontrolled crowd at the concert knocked him to the ground and trampled him,\u201d the lawsuit said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/11\/08\/us\/astroworld-lawsuit-travis-scott-festival\/index.html\">CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDefendants failed to properly plan and conduct the concert in a safe manner,\u201d it continued. \u201cInstead, they consciously ignored the extreme risks of harm to concertgoers, and, in some cases actively encouraged and fomented dangerous behaviors. Their gross negligence caused Plaintiff serious injuries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kristian Paredes, a 23-year-old from Austin, sued Scott and Drake seeking $1 million in damages, accusing the rappers of allegedly \u201c[inciting] the crowd\u201d on Friday night, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/travis-scott-drake-sued-over-astroworld-concert-incident-report\">Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLive musical performances are meant to inspire catharsis, not tragedy,\u201d Paredes\u2019 attorney, Thomas Henry, said in a press release. \u201cMany of these concert-goers were looking forward to this event for months, and they deserved a safe environment in which to have fun and enjoy the evening.
