Nicole Malliotakis revealed on Tuesday her reasoning for voting in favor of President Joe Biden\u2019s infrastructure package.<\/p>\n<p>Thirteen House Republicans voted in support of the $1.75 trillion infrastructure bill that <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/05\/house-sends-infrastructure-bill-bidens-desk-after-11th-hour-agreement-between-liberals-moderates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">passed<\/a> the House late Friday with a 228-206 vote. The legislation is intended to fund approximately $1.2 trillion over the next decade towards improving roads, bridges, ports, waterways, and rural broadband access.<\/p>\n<p>Malliotakis called the bill \u201ccover to cover infrastructure,\u201d since nearly $350 billion intends to fund a wide range of infrastructure across the country and another $550 billion will potentially go toward ports, seawalls, sewer systems, and subway signals that have deteriorated and have become outdated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor an aging city like New York City, this bill was incredibly important and the reality is that this is the type of investment that people actually pay taxes for,\u201d the New York representative told Fox News\u2019 Dana Perino and Bill Hemmer. \u201cThose basic infrastructure needs that you expect from government but have been neglected for decades.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"8.4122562674095\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201cAt the end of the you don\u2019t against a bill simply because you want to stick it to the other side. You vote for a bill because it\u2019s the right thing to do for your constituents.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepMalliotakis?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@RepMalliotakis<\/a> explains why she voted for President Biden\u2019s infrastructure package <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wQA0qB8hp7\">pic.twitter.com\/wQA0qB8hp7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 America\u2019s Newsroom (@AmericaNewsroom) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AmericaNewsroom\/status\/1458092971610497042?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 9, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Six Democrats in total including Democratic New York Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/09\/infrastructure-nancy-pelosi-civil-war-alexandria-ocasio-cortez\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez<\/a>, crossed their party lines by voting against the bill over it being passed separately from Biden\u2019s Build Back Better Plan. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/06\/13-house-republicans-infrastructure-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Here Are The 13 House Republicans Who Voted For Biden\u2019s Infrastructure Bill)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Malliotakis said voting in favor of the bill \u201ctook away the leverage from the socialist squad\u201d since criticism will now be drawn to the far left\u2019s agenda implemented in the $1.7 trillion social spending bill that includes \u201camnesty\u201d for illegal immigrants and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/budget-and-spending\/commentary\/whats-democrats-175-trillion-spending-bill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">slash fund<\/a> for Internal Revenue Service (IRS) agents. She said the progressives are the \u201closers\u201d as Republicans and moderate Democrats vow to prevent their agendas from passing.<\/p>\n<p>She argued that if the bill had failed to pass, Ocasio-Cortez and the left-wing of the Democrats would have gained leverage since the Democrats would have had to cave in to their agenda to successfully pass legislation.<\/p>\n<p>Malliotakis responded to the House Republicans\u2019 deleted Nov. 6 tweet that stated that supporting the bill is \u201ca vote for [the Democrats\u2019] socialist agenda\u201d saying they misinterpreted the bill for the spending bill that she said all Republicans oppose.<\/p>\n<p>Despite supporting his infrastructure plan, Malliotakis remained critical of the president for reforming Trump\u2019s immigration policies, the Afghanistan withdrawal and inflation. She said voting in favor of the bill was \u201cthe right thing to do\u201d for her constituents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou don\u2019t vote against a bill simply because you want to stick it to the other side, you vote for a bill because it is the right thing to do for your constituents,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd everyone I think should be looking at it from that perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She also credited former President Donald Trump for his previous push to invest in the country\u2019s failing <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2018\/03\/28\/white-house-donald-trump-infrastructure-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">infrastructure<\/a> with reference to his plan to pass an approximate $1.5 trillion to fund roads, bridges and highways. The plan ceased to pass Congress.<\/p>\n<p>The former president criticized Senate Minority Leader <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/09\/old-crow-mitch-mcconnell-donald-trump-infrastructure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mitch McConnell<\/a> Tuesday for supporting the bill that passed the Senate in August.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican New York Rep.
