A lot of the smaller players in that industry are going to probably go bankrupt in short order, at least we want them to go bankrupt if we want to tackle climate change,\u201d Saule Omarova \u2014 who the Senate is considering to lead the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency \u2014 remarked in a clip <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bidennoms\/status\/1458180110872457216\">uncovered<\/a> Tuesday by the American Accountability Foundation (AAF), a conservative research group.<\/p>\n<p>The comments were originally made during a March <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WkP0Esyfh54\">talk<\/a> Omarova gave as part of the Jain Family Institute\u2019s \u201cSocial Wealth Seminar\u201d series.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/10\/28\/joe-biden-nominated-marxist-regulate-banks-saule-omarova-toomey-tester\/\">Omarova<\/a>&nbsp;has already been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.banking.senate.gov\/newsroom\/minority\/toomey-on-professor-omarovas-refusal-to-turn-over-thesis-on-marxism-what-is-she-hiding\">slammed<\/a> by top GOP senators over her Marxist thesis paper which she has yet to share with the Banking Committee. She wrote the thesis, titled \u201cKarl Marx\u2019s Economic Analysis and the Theory of Revolution,\u201d while studying at Moscow State University in Russia decades ago. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/09\/treasury-nominee-blasted-manchin-saule-omarova-tester-biden\/\">(RELATED: Treasury Nominee Blasted Manchin For Not Being \u2018On The Democratic Side\u2019)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the end of the day, these are people\u2019s lives, people are going to lose their jobs because she\u2019s going to support policies that are there to drive them out of work,\u201d AAF Founder Thomas Jones told the Daily Caller News Foundation in an interview.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s people who are not going to be able to send their kids to college, who will not be able to make their mortgage payment because Saule Omarova has a classical Marxist view where she wants the government to run all sectors of the economy and part of that is implementing the Green New Deal,\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd you can only do that by destroying the oil and gas industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"10.03125\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Biden nominee Saule Omarova saying the quiet part out loud. On the oil, coal and gas industries:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want them to go bankrupt if we want to tackle climate change.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/luMR2HEMK9\">pic.twitter.com\/luMR2HEMK9<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 BidenNoms, A Project of AAF (@bidennoms) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bidennoms\/status\/1458180110872457216?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 9, 2021<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In addition to her comments on bankrupting the fossil fuel industry, Omarova <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=AiCWDM0hKpY&amp;t=4040s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">suggested<\/a> that withdrawing investment from oil and gas firms would be beneficial, during a virtual roundtable hosted by the Jain Family Institute in May.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, the way we basically get rid of those carbon financiers is we starve them of their sources of capital,\u201d she argued. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/08\/joe-biden-administration-pipeline-michigan-energy-midwest-line-5\/\">(RELATED: Biden Mulls Shutting Down Pipeline That Supplies Energy To Midwest)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Omarova <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/AiCWDM0hKpY?t=5784\">added<\/a> that the government should stop \u201cgreenwashing,\u201d or forwarding policies that only appear climate-friendly on the surface but are still harmful to the environment, and that leaders need to begin facing \u201cdifficult choices\u201d on climate change policy.<\/p>\n<p>During the same roundtable, she also <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/09\/treasury-nominee-blasted-manchin-saule-omarova-tester-biden\/\">criticized<\/a> West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin for pushing back on left wing policies. Manchin \u201cis supposed to be on the Democratic side,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p>All 50 Republican senators are expected to vote against confirming Omarova, Axios <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/biden-comptroller-nominee-omarova-bef4c898-a7ad-4d51-91ab-dc2212a48423.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a> Sunday. Three moderate Democrats reportedly shared their concerns with her nomination directly to the White House, multiple people familiar told Axios.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just don\u2019t understand how the White House is going to go explain this to the Jon Tester\u2019s or the Joe Manchin\u2019s of the world, that she wants to bankrupt employers who employ a significant number of the constituents in their state,\u201d Jones told the DCNF. \u201cI think it\u2019s unconscionable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
