But as long-time China watcher Patricia Adams explained last month in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegwpf.org\/content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Green-reds.pdf?utm_source=Media&amp;utm_campaign=f0063a29fe-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_12_11_10_30&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_8f98a37810-f0063a29fe-36432433&amp;mc_cid=f0063a29fe&amp;mc_eid=9b03a6c223\">report<\/a> for the Global Warming Policy Foundation, they are merely President Xi\u2019s useful idiots.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>As I <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2020\/12\/13\/report-western-environmentalists-are-the-chinese-communists-useful-idiots\/\">reported<\/a> for Breitbart News:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"20\">\n<p>Western green groups have effectively become mouthpieces for President Xi, says Adams, an economist and the executive director of Probe International, a Toronto-based NGO that has been involved in the Chinese environmental movement since its beginnings in the mid-1980s:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey praise the scale of Chinese ambition on climate change, while paying lipservice&nbsp;in criticizing China\u2019s massive coal expansion. Meanwhile, the greens turn a blind eye to the obvious;&nbsp;China&nbsp;does not honour its international agreements and has no intention of reducing fossil fuel consumption, quite the opposite. While the world has awakened&nbsp;to China\u2019s&nbsp;abuses, western environmentalists are silent,\u201d says Adams. \u201cChina plays them&nbsp;as useful idiots.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>China prioritises \u2014 as it always has \u2014 economic growth over environmental righteousness.
